Volunteer
El Centro is looking for volunteers and student interns for our program work and administration. Currently, volunteers are available to work on teaching English, grant writing, policy work and research, computer training, program assistance such as the women's project and the legal program. 2010 Volunteer needs
1. Interpreters for our domestic workers' project. El Centro is in the process of launching a domestic workers' rights project to publish the abuse of domstic workers in Colorado in collaboration with CU Denver. Due to large volume of survey and intervews to be conducted between now and May, any volunteers who are bi-lingual are welcome to conduct some of interviews in their native languages.
2. Research assistance: El Centro is in the process of launching our first worker owned co-op. The person with research skills will be doing grant research for the project.
3. English class instruction: El Centro runs English class and anyone who is interested in teaching English class for low income day laborers in the morning is welcomed.
4. Wage Theft Campaign volunteer: El Centro has an upcoming wage theft camapaign to prepare for direct actions against a specifically targetted predatory company. The person who is interested in organizing will work with the organizing director on this campaign.
